Housing Development, Lanark
Project: Housing Development, Cobblehaugh Road, Lanark
Client: JBB Developments
Principal Contractor: JBB Developments
Contract Value: £1.2M

The development consists of five contemporary detached dwellings within a rural setting. The use of solar power, grey water and reusable material were an essential part of the design and planning process in this development.

Traffic management was an issue in that the access to the site was via a shared access along a minor road. With adequate signage, pre-arranged delivery times and the use of banksman, the traffic to and from the site was tightly controlled.

The development was completed in 2008.
Threemiletown Housing Development (Phase 2)
Client: Alliance Developments (Scotland) Ltd
Principal Contractor: Alliance Developments (Scotland) Ltd
Contract Value: £1.0M

The site was formerly farm steadings with the existing buildings now Grade B listed. The development is a combination of twenty seven dwellings created from existing and new buildings. The new works are of contemporary design with modern features. The materials and detailing used are based on the traditional theme of the existing listed buildings.

Our main consideration was that the main access to the site was shared by the occupants of the completed first phase. Careful planning and a detailed traffic management plan were put in place by the principal contractor who ensured that residents were kept informed of progress on a regular basis.

Works were recently completed successfully.

Ark Community HousingArk Housing Association - Community Housing to Flats, Forfar, Blairgowrie & Glenrothes
Client: Ark Housing Association
Principal Contractor: Muirfield Contracts
Contract Value: various

We were appointed by Ark Housing Association for 3 projects to convert existing community houses into private flats for tenants with special needs. The projects were procured under the umbrella of partnering.

The 3 projects consisted of internal alterations and extensions to the existing community houses. Although the community houses themselves were unoccupied, the contractors main issues were the protection of adjoining or neighbouring properties and safe access for their residents.

All 3 projects were completed successfully in 2004/2005 and the partnering relationship has successfully progressed onto further projects.
Glenmavis House, Bathgate
Client: AD Homes
Principal Contractor: Alliance Developments (Scotland) Ltd
Contract Value: £450,000

The project involved the construction of 5 houses within the 'garden ground' of Glenmavis House in Bathgate. The current residents of the House moved into a newly built bungalow on the site, leaving the main house free for refurbishment.

The main issues facing the principal contractor were related to safe access to the bungalow whilst 4 other houses on the site were being constructed. A detailed traffic management plan was drafted up to ensure safe and continuous access to the property.

The project was completed in December 2006.
