19 Rutland Street, Edinburgh
Client: Signature Enterprises
Principle Contractor: Complete Joinery Services
Contract Value: £25,000

The works comprises of the change of use of an existing building to form offices and a domestic dwelling.

Rutland Street is a busy city centre street with on street parking and a steady stream of pedestrians on the adjacent footpath. The main issues however, were with works being carried out within the building itself.

An existing cupola situated high above the internal stair required reinstatement. Externally works could be carried out from a flat roof but internally an adequate platform scaffold required to be errected to form a safe working platform. There were substantial structural downtakings that required the structure above to be very carefully exposed to allow the structural engineer to inspect and confirm the new structure and method of work required.

The works were successfully completed in October 2010
27 Inverleith Row, Edinburgh
Client: Ewes Investments
Principal Contractor: Ewes Investments

The works comprise of internal alterations to an existing hotel to form 4 no. residential dwellings

The site is located on a very busy vehicular and pedestrian city centre route which was undergoing roadworks resulting in traffic build up outside of the site. This restricted deliveries to the site outwith rush hour with skip drop off and pick up scheduled for 6am. There was limited area within the grounds of the property for a suitable compound so welfare facilities were utilised within the property.

The works are due for completion by the end of 2010.
Renovation - Sugarbond, EdinburghRenovation - Sugarbond, Edinburgh
Client: MCP (Sugarbond Ltd)
Principal Contractor: Gordon Elder Developments
Contract Value: £100,000

The project consists of the renovation of an existing building to form three offices and a cafe with a part first floor level constructed within the existing double height space accessed via spiral staircases.

The access to the building is adjacent to a public walkway and public security was a major issue for the contractor when offloading large elements eg steelwork and staircases. The contractor utilised the use of a pend adjacent to the building and used heras fencing as protection adjacent to the public walkway.

The project is currently progressing on site and is due for completion in the near future.
